New York’s Daily news has an article with slides showing the 10 greatest sports moments of the decade for New York and six of those moments are from baseball. The number one moment was the Giants beating the Patriots in the Superbowl, but who didn’t think that was amazing, besides Patriot fans that is. The number two moment was when the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets in the 2000 Subway World Series. There was nothing like watching Roger Clemens go up against Mike Piazza. I, Aaron Matthew Breslow, loved the 2000 World Series. Moment number three was the Yankees winning this year’s World Series in their new stadium, which many thought it would be bad luck. I would list the rest of the top 10 moments but Aaron Breslow’s gotta run. Finish the article at http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/toplists/the_00s_decades_ten_best_moments_in_big_apple_sports/the_00s_decades_ten_best_moments_in_big_apple_sports.html . Happy New Year!!
Re-airing of the Minnesota Twins game 163 is coming to you on Fox Sports North. This is a game thats been labeled among the greatest regular-season contests in Twins history–and perhaps in baseball history as well. On Christmas night they are bringing this spectacular game back into our homes reliving the 12-inning, 6-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers, thanks to a special encore presentation. The show will not just replay the game, but also offer perspective from participants in the classic contest. There will be exclusive comments from manager Ron Gardenhire as well as stories about that night from people who were there.
Aaron Matthew Breslow found this video on You tube that has some pretty cool pictures of baseballs’ past on it. It’s not a bad slide show. You should check it out at watch?v=QWFCUwHpqOY. Let me know what your favorite moments in baseball history are.
For the first time in MLB history, a Japanese national has been named World Series MVP. Hideki Matsui triumphantly stands in the field as the first Japanese to ever win this prestigious award. Going 8-for-13 with 3 HRs and 8 RBIs and six RBIs in the final game, and winning the 2009 World Series Championship, by this, his great and outstanding achievement, he has no doubt left huge shoes to be filled by any of his countrymen seeking to follow in his glorious MVP footsteps.
Age 35, and in his final year of a contract worth $52 million over 4 years, what should Hideki Matsui do as far as his career is concerned? Should he retire at what is ostensibly the high of his career? Re-sign with the Dandy pinstripes? Sign with another team? Aaron Matthew Breslow thinks that no matter what anyone says or thinks, Mr. 2009 World Series Champion Hideki Matsui, New York Yankees’ MVP should decide what his next personal and professional inning should be.
I, Aaron Matthew Breslow, came across a quote by Babe Ruth about the day that he hit the home run in the third game of the 1932 World Series in a book called, My Greatest Day day in Baseball by John P. Carmichael. Babe Ruth was quoted as saying, “Aw, everybody knows that game, the day I hit the homer off ole Charlie Root there in Wrigley Field, the day October first, the third game of that thirty-two World Series. But right now I want to settle all arguments. I didn’t exactly point to any spot, like the flagpole. Anyway, I didn’t mean to, I just sorta waved at the whole fence, but that was foolish enough. All I wanted to do was give that thing a ride… outta the park… anywhere.” He also said, “Boy, when I think of the good breaks in my life….that was one of them.”
It’s neat knowing that when he swung at the ball he didn’t know what to expect, he was only swinging because he was mad and had decided to swing if he could reach the ball with his bat. Aaron Matthew Breslow just thought it was a cool piece of baseball history.
That is one awesome video. Here is Aaron Matthew Breslow’s personal greatest baseball moment:
Shot Caller – In the fifth inning of Game 3 of the 1932 World Series, Babe Ruth Ruth pointed to the center field bleachers while at-bat. Though highly debated, his guesture seemed to declaration that he would hit a home run to where to center field – and he did just that.
